We're Still Here!

Getting everything together for this installment I kept feeling an urgency, kind of like an editor not meeting his deadline. I knew we had not produced a newsletter in a long time. To be honest, the entire LSDS staff and instructors have been busy beyond belief. I guess it's a sign of the times and it is like that everywhere. The hustle and bustle of life passed hectic years ago, for me anyway.

It was not until I began to save this file as the template for this newsletter that I realized it had been over a year since our last installment. Man... I knew we'd been busy, but dang.

"Life comes at you fast", said Ferris Bueller. "And throws you out of the plate glass window and into the bushes to the ravine below", says I.

Well, we're still here even if our newsletters have not. So with our apologies for the delay, lets get into what has been going on with Lansdale's Self Defense Systems over the last year.

Camp Lansdale 12 went off without a hitch in October of last year. The instruction was top notch. All of the usual suspects were in attendance as far as the teaching crowd went. Guru Mike Casto made his annual appearance with some formidable Sikal instruction in tow as one of the special guests. Sifu Brandon Jones returned as a special guest to show us more of the Seven Star Praying Mantis that we love so well.

Headlining Guest was Shihan Paul Britt, of the home crew, who showed us the down and dirty side of Shen Chuan. As Professor so aptly puts it, "he ain't purty... but he's effective!" Well, maybe he has gotten a little purtier as the years have gone by. His Shen Chuan method, which distinctly has a Paul Britt flavor, is outstanding however. To the point. Getting the job done. If you're ever in Rockwall, Texas, it would do you good to stop in and get in on a little Shen Chuan a la Paul Britt training.
